The reasoned verdict of the closure case against Turkey's Justice and Development Party (AKP) might be made public in the first week of October, the head of Turkey's top court said late on Monday.


The reasoned verdict regarding the constitutional amendments to lift the headscarf ban in universities would be released at the same time as the reasoned verdict of the AKP closure case, Hasim Kilic, the head of Turkey’s Constitutional Court told reporters during a ceremony held at the parliament to mark the new judicial year.

The constitutional court ruled against the demands to close the governing party in its critical ruling on July 30. However the court ruled with an overwhelming majority that the AKP had become the focal point of anti-secular activities and issued a “serious warning”, depriving the party of the financial assistance that it would receive from the state.
