Prime Minister Erdoğan discussed the democratic initiative with representatives of women’s organizations.
Erdoğan addressed female representatives of women’s organizations by stating; “There is no politics or ideology of motherhood. There are no words that will contain a woman’s mourning. Your voice has the strength to allow the youth to live.”
Prime Minister Erdoğan met with representatives from women’s civil society organizations in a seven-hour meeting which took place in his office in the Dolmabahçe Palace.
Stating; “Certain politicians and members of the media as well as other have scoffed in criticism of this meeting,” Erdoğan went on to deliver the following messages.
PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN COVERED OVER: For years in this nation how many words, how many phrases have been forbidden, practically perceived as a sin, they weren’t written, they weren’t drawn. However now, as the government, we have been and continue to exert efforts to break down those barriers.
THE WORLD DID NOT COME TO AN END: We used names such as Necip Fazıl Kısakürek and Nazım Hikmet or Neşet Ertaş and Şivan Perver at the same time and the world did not come to an end. In fact, just the opposite occurred; the country has experienced a serious sense of relief and hope. Because we are sharing the pain suffered by mothers and are acknowledging and commemorating those killed in the violence in Dersim, Sivas, K.Maraş, Gazi Mahallesi and Başbağlar, the country’s foundations have not been rocked. We have allowed for May Day celebrations to take place in Taksim Square and the nation has not become communist. One of the state-controlled television stations now broadcasts 24-hours a day in Kurdish and the country has not divided.
THE FEARS ARE CONTRIVED: The constitutional amendments have not changed or rocked the system as feared; in fact they have worked to create a more amicable environment for the fusion of the public and the government. Light has been shed on how baseless and imaginary the fears are that have been imposed on the public.
OUR SHARED PAIN: The pain suffered is all of our pain. The children who have lost their lives are all of our children. Please, let’s protect our children our youth and our future. This is something women can do and will do… Just how the mothers in Argentina, Ireland, Pakistan and Israel have done it, the women in my nation will also be successful.”
