Minister of finance, Kemal Unakıtan, Deputy Prime Minister Nazım Ekren and State Minister Mehmet Şimşek presented an optimistic picture of the Turkish economy for the press, during a period when the global crisis is spreading. As opposed to the expectations that some question marks related to the course of the Turkish economy would have been removed, the ministers tried to boost morale with the revised national income figures. It was stated that the fragility in the economy has decreased, financial discipline has been attained and no problem exists in payment of debts.
