Vast celebration for Astana and Nazarbayev’s birthday

A combined celebration of Kazakhstan President Nazarbayev's 70th birthday and the 12th anniversary of the Capital Astana’s founding, brought out a number of nation leaders and officials and coincided with a significant opening ceremony.

The celebration of the Kazakhstan President and former Central Asian state leader Nursultan Nazarbayev’s birthday was reminiscent of an international summit of sorts. Adding to the coinciding celebrations of the 12th anniversary of the founding of the Capital Astana, a number of additional events and prestigious openings also contributed to the festivities. While seven state leaders convened in Astana for the double-celebration, a significant number of high-level state officials were also in attendance. Turkish President Abdullah Gül, Russian State Leader Dimitri Medvedev, Ukrainian President Viktor Yuşenko, Armenian President Serj Sargsyan, Tajikistan State Leader İmamali Rahmanov, United Arab Emirates Sheikh Muhammed Bin Zayid Al Nahyan and Kyrgyzstan State Leader Roza Otunbayevawere all  present for the celebrations, which resembled a world summit of sorts.

WIDE PARTICIPATION FROM TURKEY

A crowded group of businessmen also attended the ceremony, including Çalık Holding Chairman of the Executive Board Ahmet Çalık, Rixos Group Chairman Fettah Tamince, Okan Holding Chairman of the Board Bekir Okan, Süzer Holding Chairman of the Board Mustafa Süzer, Torunlar Gıda Chairman Aziz Torun and Adopen Chairman of the Board Mustafa Sak in the Turkish committee. Amongst the events coinciding with Nazarbayev’s birthday and Astana’s 12th anniversary was the opening of Central Asia’s largest shopping center, the Khan Shatyry (Han Tent), realized with a 400 million dollar investment by the Turkish construction company Sembol İnşaat.
