Monaco’s Prince Albert has also decided not to attend the festival, due to the massacre.
According to Yigal Molad Hayo, one of the festival’s organizers, Meg Ryan had previously confirmed her attendance, however the day after the May 31st raid by Israeli forces, in which nine peace activists were killed, she sent an e-mail stating she would not be attending the festival. Although Ryan stated the cancellation was due to her busy schedule, speculation has surfaced due to the timing of the cancellation that there may have been underlining reasons.
Dustin Hoffman also similarly discontinued communication with the festival organizers after the attack. Prince Albert of Monaco, who was scheduled to attend a special event for his legendary mother Grace Kelly, also cancelled his attendance, with wide speculation the decision was due to political reasons.
