During a Turkey-EU political dialogue meeting in Istanbul, a proposal was made for a new mechanism to expedite accession in which Ankara would provide weekly and daily reports to Brussels.
Foreign Affairs Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and State Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış proposed a new mechanism to expedite the EU accession process during the first Turkey- European Union political dialogue meeting.
EU Foreign Affairs Representative Catherine Ashton and EU Commissioner for Enlargement attended yesterday’s meeting held at the Çırağan Palace in Istanbul. As Ankara emphasized that both sides shared the same vision for Turkey’s full membership to the EU, a proposal was made for Turkey to submit weekly or daily reports, in a mechanism of expedition which would include foreign policy sharing. Davutoğlu stated that this new mechanism would provide the most significant basis for the EU and Turkey’s joint vision
