As Turkey gets set to relinquish their seat to UN Security Council non-permanent membership at the end of the year, after being selected for the position 47-years later, Turkey will soon embark upon the most significant part of their two-year term membership as they take on Term Presidency in September.
The United Nations Security Council will meet in New York in September, under Abdullah Gül’s presidency, which commences September 1st and will last until September 30th. Gül will host the hundreds of leaders at the opening of the UN Security Council general assembly.
As is done every month, as term president, Turkey has selected ‘Preserving Peace’ as the topic of discussion during the session.
