| Kayserispor midfielder Mehmet Topuz, who signed a three-year contract with the Fenerbahçe Yellow Canaries on Sunday after a long-lasting controversy over his transfer, met with his fans at a spectacular signature ceremony yesterday. The ceremony took place at the Fenerbahçe's Åžükrü SaracoÄŸlu Stadium in İstanbul.

Appearing before the press and Fener fans on a platform along with Fenerbahçe Chairman Aziz Yıldırım and other managers, Topuz signed the contract, which made him an official Fenerbahçe player.
Nearly 5,000 Fenerbahçe fans attended the ceremony.
Delivering a speech, Chairman Yıldırım thanked everybody who helped in the transfer of Topuz to Fenerbahçe.
For his part, Topuz said he was very excited and happy about being a Fenerbahçe player.
“I underwent the hardest three weeks of my life. I would like to wear the Fener jersey for many years. There are two things I need most at the moment: the confidence of Fener fans and a vacation. I will make a big contribution to Fenerbahçe's prospective championship. Everyone will see this. I love you all,” said Topuz.
Fenerbahçe reached an agreement with the Kayserispor club to acquire Topuz even before the Turkcell Super League season ended last month and also obtained the player's buyout clause. This deal was not done under duress, and Topuz was part and parcel of all of the negotiations.
All that was left was for Topuz, after the two esteemed clubs had shaken hands, to complete his own part of the deal with Fenerbahçe.
But Topuz all of a sudden turned renegade, announced that he had signed an interim contract with current Turkish champion BeÅŸiktaÅŸ and also posed with the Black Eagles jersey. And this transfer saga has dominated the Turkish agenda ever since.
