The Kaya İzmir Thermal Hotel is situated in the forested foothills of İzmir’s southwest Balçova district, overshadowing the residential area of Narlıdere, offering its guests the pleasure of a luxury hotel and the benefits of natural treatments from geothermal water.
The hotel began operating in August 2010 following an extensive renovation program that transformed the hotel into a luxury five-star spa hotel resort. The Kaya İzmir is located within walking distance of many well-known shopping and entertainment facilities, such as the Ege Park Shopping Mall and the Agora Shopping Center. The hotel’s wide U-shape structure and hillside position ensure that many of the 613 rooms offer spectacular coastal views.
The Kaya İzmir Thermal Hotel is owned and operated by the multi-faceted Kaya Holding Corporation, which owns companies in various fields in Turkey including construction, tourism and finance and energy.
The hotel benefits from a natural geothermal spring located within the hotel grounds and this is evidenced in the 6,000 square meter Electra Spa. The hotel is set within 70,000 square meters of landscaped gardens and outdoor facilities including a large sun deck and swimming pool and the outdoor thermal pool. It also boasts İzmir’s largest convention and events center with a total of 5,500 square meters of conference and meetings space. The hotel has an internal communal space which covers an impressive 30,000 square meters and offers various dining options, including three restaurants, one of which is a la carte, a patisserie and an energy bar.
Breakfast and evening meals are served in The Smyrna Restaurant which has a capacity for 500 diners and offers a selection of Turkish and international dishes. The Mirus a la carte restaurant has a capacity for 80 guests and serves Mediterranean and international Cuisine. The piano lounge can seat 100 guests comfortably with the adjacent Aura Lobby Lounge and bar seating for a further 250 guests. The layout of the Kaya İzmir’s central ground floor guest area emulates the hotel’s honeycomb symbol, which can be seen in features throughout the hotel.
The hotel can cater for special functions, including seminars and weddings.
Accommodation
The Kaya İzmir has a total of 316 rooms, each offering ample space with en suite facilities. There are 288 deluxe rooms, 11 executive suites, four junior suites, two executive deluxe suites, two presidential deluxe suite and nine rooms accessible for guests with physical disabilities. Each room offers adjustable air conditioning, a well-stocked mini bar, complimentary tea and coffee facilities (including complimentary bottled water), satellite television, robes, slippers and hairdryers. The standard deluxe rooms offer a writing desk and seating area. The hotel provides 24-hour reception and room services, the majority of the rooms are non-smoking; guests should request a smoking room if one is required.
Conference center
The conference center is located in a separate building and offers a host of facilities for an assortment of functions. The center conists of several well-equipped rooms with the latest high-tech gadgetry, including an open 2,100-square-meter hall, 25 meeting rooms of various sizes, a 1,600-square-meter foyer hall and 1,300-square-meter roof terrace with spectacular views over the Bay of İzmir. The hotel and conference center entrances face each other across a circular drive with ample free parking to the side.
Electra Spa
The Electra Spa covers an area of 6,000 square meters and includes an indoor thermal pool, relaxation room, sauna, steam room, adventure shower, a women’s only thermal Jacuzzi and Turkish bath, a men’s-only thermal Jacuzzi and Turkish bath, several treatment rooms and three other kinds of treatment rooms.
The suite treatment rooms include two massage tables, a private sauna, a steam room and Jacuzzi bath and are available on an hourly basis, with or without therapy. The thermal water fluctuates between 65 and 90 degrees Celsius at its source and is regulated to remain at a consistent temperature within the spa. Thermal water is well known for its healing properties as well as its therapeutic benefits. The geothermal spring water has been incorporated into several therapies at the Electra Spa and the well-trained staff can advise on which therapies or facilities can best match your requirements.
